Making Claims for Items That Are Tax Deductible? Here’s How You Can Make More Money.

Tis’ tax season again and while you may have gotten your EA forms, receipts of recent relevant purchases and whatnot ready, we’d like to also bring to your attention some new implementations that have been set in place as part of the pandemic relief packages.

  1. Under the lifestyle category, you can now claim up to an additional RM2500 (on top of the existing RM2500 relief)
  2. Up to RM1000 can be claimed for travel expenses within the country (for registered accommodations and also entrance fees to tourist attractions) between March till 31 December 2021
  3. Income tax relief limit increased from RM2000 to RM3000 for childcare services and expenses
  4. Under the PENJANA Economic Recovery Plan, 100% sales tax exemption will be given for the purchase of locally assembled cars (imported cars have a 50% exemption), between June 2020 till June 2021
  5. Exemption from the Real Property Gains Tax (RGPT) for Malaysians who sell their residential properties between June till 31 December 2021

  4. Di bawah Pelan Jana Semula Ekonomi Negara (PENJANA), 100% pelepasan cukai akan diberikan kepada kereta yang melalui proses pemasangan tempatan (kereta import akan mendapat 50% pelepasan cukai), antara bulan Jun 2020 hingga Jun 2021.
  5. Pelepasan untuk Cukai Keuntungan Harta Tanah (CKHT atau RPGT) untuk rakyat Malaysia yang menjual harta kediaman antara bulan Jun hingga 31 Disember 2021.
