As the movie character Forrest Gump famously said, “Life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you’re going to get.” That quote can be applied when buying a used car because you won’t be able to tell the condition of the car just from its exterior.
That’s why multi-point car inspections are needed, to check the car from top-to-bottom and the outside in! With that, you can ascertain the car’s complete condition before you buy it.
What Is A Multi-Point Car Inspection?
A multi-point inspection looks at your car to see if it’s in good, well-running order and if there are defects or any repairs needed. Various components are inspected, such as the structure of the car, engine bay, interior and exterior, and how it performs on the road.
If you’re selling your car or buying a used car, a multi-point car inspection is necessary to ensure the vehicle is in tip-top shape for its next owner. Without an inspection, you can’t tell just from the looks of the car if it’ll guarantee you a smooth ride.
To avoid seller or buyer biases, the inspection is carried out by a trained professional from a neutral or third party. That way, you’ll get a 100% honest and accurate inspection of the car!
How Is A Car Inspection Calculated?
Car inspections vary from point to point, with common ones like 160-point inspections, 175-point inspections, and 180-point inspections – the latter of which Mudah Certified provides.
During an inspection, the car’s components are checked, and they contribute towards 1 point. Hence, with a comprehensive 180-point inspection, there will be 180 components checked all over the car, interior-to-exterior and top-to-bottom.
The Car Inspection Process
When you bring your car in for a check, professional inspectors will begin the inspection report by noting down the details of the car, such as the year, brand, model, mileage, etc.
The up to 180-point inspection conducted by Mudah Certified has two parts: a physical inspection (which includes a test drive) and an On-Board Diagnostics (OBD) system that reads the car’s electronic components and sensors.
During the inspection, the inspector will check the car for any structural damage, flood or water damage, and evidence of any cuts and joints. The test drive and OBD readings will also help determine the overall working condition of the vehicle.
The inspection will take about 30 minutes, and once complete, you can expect a detailed 180-point inspection report of your car, plus pictures.
Up To 180-Point Inspection For Mudah Certified Cars
Here’s an example of what you can expect from a Mudah Certified car inspection.
- The location of the inspection
- The report ID
- The date of the inspection
- Vehicle information (mileage, transmission, fuel type, model and variant, body type, capacity)
- Photos and videos of the vehicle (interior, exterior, key components, OBD readings, and more)
- Additional information or notes discovered during the inspection
On the inspection report, the car components and their status will be shown clearly. A check mark in a green circle means the component performs normally, while an exclamation mark in a yellow triangle indicates abnormal behaviour.
If a component on the list is not available in the vehicle, it will be marked with a dash through an orange circle. Besides that, a grey sign specifies not-inspected components.
